Tooth removal
Making 'goodbye' as painless as possible.
We understand that in some cases, bidding farewell to a tooth can be an uncomfortable experience. Whether it's a wisdom tooth or a tooth affected by trauma, at Spring Smiles in Melbourne, we are dedicated to making this treatment as painless and forgettable as possible.
What to expect
45 minutes – 1.5 hours
Dr. Liu may recommend a tooth extraction for various reasons. Some teeth are extracted due to severe decay, advanced periodontal disease, or fractures beyond repair. Others may require removal for poor positioning in the mouth (like impacted teeth) or in preparation for orthodontic treatment. Recognising the potential impact on chewing ability, the jaw joint, and tooth alignment, Dr. Liu will discuss alternatives to extractions and replacement options for the removed tooth.
What to expect during extraction
At the time of the extraction, Dr. Liu will numb your tooth, jawbone, and surrounding gums with a local anaesthetic. During the process, you may feel pressure as the tooth is firmly rocked to widen the socket for removal. This pressure is normal and should not be painful due to the numbing effect of the inaesthetic.
If you happen to feel any pain during the extraction, please inform us immediately.
